SSS: Things With Wings Wednesday Challenge

Oh WOW, I made a card!  I found some time in this crazy life to make something that always brings me happiness.  And I love butterflies, so this weeks' Wednesday Challenge over at Simon Says Stamp was the perfect one for me!

Here is my card:

I dug into my SSS Monthly card kits of years gone by and sound some lovely cardstock and designer papers to put this card together.  The stamps I used are:

Magnolia Blooms by Clearly Besotted
Flora & Fauna by WPlus9
Urban Tapestry by Stampers Anonymous (Tim Holtz Collection)

I double stamped the sentiment purposely off the edge, once with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and once with gold ink to correspond with those lovely gold spots on the patterned paper.

Off to find some more time to make some more cards!

Have a blessed day xx

With Sympathy

Try as I  might I don't seem to be able to get my act together to keep this blog regular.  It's not so much the blog that's eating at me, it's more that I can't seem to find a reasonable block of time to craft anymore.  Life just seems busy, and most likely busy with mundane things!

Here is a Sympathy card I made yesterday when a friend called and said she needed a few cards.

I used a Tim Holtz stencil to create the background which almost looks like rain actually.  The stamped image is one from Penny Black , the sentiment is from PTI.

It's Father's Day here in South Africa, so after a nice breakfast my husband has gone to do what he likes most, and that is stand up paddle boarding.

Have a wonderful day!

Birthday Wishes

Just a quick post as we are off on a 3 hour road trip to watch our daughter play in a 30 minute hockey match, and then driving back!  The things we do for our children!

Here is a quick card I made the other day when I had friends over crafting and my one friend was going to discard the embossed panel you will see on my card.  I said, no, no, no, I am sure I can make something with that!  (Sound familiar?)

It's been a while since I used my embossing folders.  I inked the colder itself in order for the "daisies" to stand out.

Have a wonderful day!

The Paper Players Challenge #296

I'm not sure if I have ever played at Paper Players before but I like the variety of challenges they have every month.  This week it's a Sketch Challenge which you can find by clicking HERE.  This is the sketch on offer:

It's a nice sketch with many possibilities.  I decided I needed a masculine card for just in case and went with a mixture of blues.  I used the Trendy Treetops stamp set from PTI.  Here is my card, I took minimal liberties when following the sketch and I like how it turned out.

That tree is simply too cute.  I popped the heart up after stamping and fussy cutting it and then covered it with some Glossy Accents.  While I was at it I decided to make a quick one layer CAS card to add to my collection for a rainy day (this is not for the challenge of course.)

I doodled a border around it with a black micron pen for fun.

Have a blessed day!

Purely Zentangle

Here are some Zentangle tiles I did recently, two of them were for challenges.

It's A String Thing #145

We had to use two specific tangles:

SKYE by Margaret Bremner
ANTIDOTS by Anita Roby-Lavery

SKYE is brand spanking new and I need a lot of practice, a lot!  It still feels too calculated for me. You'll see I did one with sort of wobbly lines, that was intentional, I wanted to see what it would looked like.  I'm going to have to loosen up a bit more in order to enjoy this one properly.

DIVA Weekly Challenge #268: A Bit-o-Black

I enjoyed this one!  The tangles used are Fugu, Crescent Moon, Batumder and Meringue

And this was a just for fun one!

Here I tangled with Fife, KRLI-Q's, Ellish, Baton and ING.

Have a blessed day!

Welcome to Your New Home

A friend of mine asked if I would make her a card to give to a couple moving into their new home.  I was more than happy to have a reason to get out my supplies.  I went in search of a stamp with a house/s on it and found it in one of my Monthly Unity Stamp Kits I used to receive.  Here is the card:

I couldn't find a sentiment that said "welcome" so I went to a trusted Hero Arts stamp set and used "Just A Note" as the sentiment.  I love it because you finish the reason for the card on the inside so it suites almost any occasion!

I paired the image with some more pretty paper from Lilly Bee Designs.  The image was stamped and partially coloured with matching Copic markers and then adhered with some foam adhesive for some dimension.

My friend has just come by to collect the card and loves it, which makes me happy!

Enjoy a blessed day!

Freshly Made Sketches # 237

A blog friend reminded me after my post yesterday that participating in challenges in one way of making something for a purpose.  So I spent this morning reviewing all the challenge blogs I follow and semi-prioritising those I want to continue playing in and when I want to post those cards on my blog.

It has sort of rejuvenated me, I don't feel like I am operating in this big vacuum where the only person present is me!  Don't feel sorry for me, I think I have done enough of that since we moved to a new part of the country!  Change is not always easy, but we hope to start building our home this September so in 10-12 months after that we should be happier!

Anyway, back to today and this minute, the one minute that I can influence right now, so I will share the card I made for the current challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches.  Here is the sketch they provided:

And here is my interpretation in which I did take a bit of liberty.  It's always confusing to me how much you can stretch a sketch!!!

I used designer papers from Lily Bee Design and a die from Papertrey Ink.  I just loved the colours.

Yeah!!  It's weekend!  Have a great one!
